What is an internship?
An internship is a short-term
work experience offered by companies and other organizations for, usually
students, but not always—to get some entry-level exposure to a particular
industry or field [wikipedia].
What are the advantages of interning?
Interns spend their time working on projects to gain valuable work experience - Which provide you with a competitive edge while job hunt.
Internship - an opportunity to use theories learned in class.
Interns may take the chosen filed of internship as a "Test Drive" - Do you like the type of work, work environment, working hours, coworkers, etc.? i.e. its enhances your soft skills.
Internship - helps in building industry connections, secure letters of recommendation and connect to an employer who may offer you full job in future.
May be for academic credit (but not required).

One may opt for Part-time/Full-time internships here.
It is one of the internship platforms in India. It provides internships and also provide training to students to acquire particular skills. You have to create your accounts by filling out a signup form. Select the company you want to apply to, you must answer 2-3 questions. Then you will receive a callback for an interview. There are vast number of company selection here. It offers students a wide range of industries that you can get.
2. LinkedIn
Here also one may opt for Part-time/ Full-time internships.
This platform is a professional networking website. It is one of the best internship websites in India. The process of finding internships is easy. On the home page, search for internships.
You can even refine your search using keywords that suits your career goal, for example if you want to choose a career in marketing you may choose the keyword ‘marketing internships’. This might ask you for your local pin code, after which it will present a list of companies.
The best thing about LinkedIn is that once you find a company, it will display how many of your connections are associated with the company and thus help secure an internship.
